Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday night (August 27) for alleged cocaine possession, reports The Associated Press.

Paris Hilton was inside a Cadillac Escalade which was pulled by a police officer near the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas at around 11:30 P.M. after the officer detected a smell of marijuana coming out of the SUV.

The driver was found to be driving under the influence (not specified by the press note released from the police if it was drug, alcohol or both).

Hilton and her friends were taken to Clark County jail and the socialite was released early this Saturday morning (August 28).

According to TMZ, Paris Hilton told the police that the purse containing cocaine didn’t belong to her.

The driver is currently being held under custody.

Last month, Hilton was detained over a FIFA World Cup match in South Africa for possession of marijuana, the charges were later dropped.

The Los Angeles Times: Paris Hilton awoke Tuesday to a man with two big knives trying to break into her Sherman Oaks home, she said on Twitter, posting a picture of law enforcement folks who were out in her yard.

“So scary,” she said.

Hilton’s alarm system was activated, and police responded to a 911 call, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said. A man was taken into custody, and nobody was injured, according to CNN. Hilton told police that the man, reportedly in his 40s, woke her up as he banged on the windows of her home, KTLA said.

And, because it’s Los Angeles, the KTLA news helicopter caught a shot of Paris out on her balcony, checking out the action — wearing only a towel.

E! Online: Paris Hilton was just in Madrid for business (before heading on to the glitz and glamour of Cannes) but Cristiano Ronaldo wanted her to make time for pleasure, too.

The soccer stud, who’s been romantically linked to Kim Kardashian and Paris herself, allegedly tried to meet up with the heiress while she was in Spain this week.

“He texted her when he found out she was there, but she only had a few hours because she was in back-to-back meetings,” an insider tells me. “So they didn’t end up meeting up.”

But sources say they plan to hang out soon in a very exotic locale…

The two will probably get together next month in South Africa, where they’ll both be attending the World Cup.

A source close to the soccer stud says, “Cristiano has never stopped talking to Paris since their hot romance last year. He thinks that she’s sexy and so much fun to be around.”

But a source close to Paris says she just wants to have fun for now. “She obviously thinks he’s gorgeous and very sweet but she’s not interested in getting serious with anyone right now. She’s having way too much fun being single.”

Nicky Hilton says sister Paris needs a boyfriend with a “normal” job.

Nicky told Hollyscoop she adviced Paris to find a new man who has a “normal” job: “(She needs a man) who is normal and has a normal job. Who does not want the spotlight. That’s what she needs.”

Paris agreed on Nicky’s statement on her Twitter.

Hollyscoop reports that The Hilton sisters are planning to get out of the Los Angeles scene to spend some time relaxing at their place in The Hamptons.

Paris Hilton has revealed she met with songwriter Linda Perry, sparking rumors she is planning to relaunch her pop career. The 29-year-old wrote on her Twitter page that she had been working with Perry, 45, who was behind Christina Aguilera’s number one track “Beautiful” and Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For.”

“Went and visited Linda Perry at her studio. She is so cool and her studio is incredible! I respect her so much as a producer, what a talent!”

Hilton released her first single, “Stars Are Blind,” in 2006 and it reached the top five in the UK as well as Ireland and Canada. She went on to release four more singles, which didn’t perform as well, and her first album – Paris – was released in 2006.

She started work on a second album, which was never released.

The Miami Associated Press: Paris Hilton should return up to $1 million she was paid for the 2006 box-office bomb “Pledge This!” because she didn’t plug the film enough, an attorney for the movie’s investors told a federal judge Thursday.

The 29-year-old hotel heiress, actress and self-promoting businesswoman refused nine requests for print and broadcast interviews she should have given under her contract, said investor attorney Bryan West.

“We paid her $1 million, and we’re entitled to get at least a portion of that back,” West told U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno. “Part of what actors do is promote their films.”

But Hilton’s attorney, Michael Weinsten, said she took part in several high-profile publicity events — including an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival — and that the contract didn’t require her to do interviews when she was busy on other projects.

Weinsten added that Hilton also had the right to approve or reject any proposals or offers.

“Paris Hilton is a brand. That is her value, and how she makes money,” he said. “She did substantial publicity.”

Hilton, who testified last summer at a trial over the dispute, did not attend Thursday’s hearing. She said previously that although dissatisfied with the finished “Pledge This!” cut, she wanted the college sorority romp to succeed and worked hard to make that happen. Yet the film only made $2.9 million.

Moreno previously rejected the investors’ effort to sue Hilton for $8.3 million in damages, which included the $1 million she was paid for her acting and as executive producer. But he left open the possibility that she might have to repay some or all of that fee as restitution if she did not fulfill her publicity obligations.

Moreno did not indicate when he would rule. The case centers on determining the value of the appearances Hilton did against the cost of those she rejected, which ranged from a proposed appearance on NBC’s “Tonight Show” to phone chats with several British publications.

“The question is, what is the value of what she did do? Because she did do something,” Moreno said. “How do I quantify it?”

Hilton was sued by attorney Michael Goldberg, a court-appointed receiver for a now-defunct entertainment company that was the major investor in “Pledge This!” The company, Worldwide Entertainment Group, was shut down as a suspected $300-million Ponzi scheme by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Goldberg is attempting to recoup losses for some 3,300 investors in the company.

Both sides acknowledge Hilton’s ability to move a product. Goldberg said Thursday that sales of the “Pledge This!” DVD spiked last summer amid publicity surrounding the trial, although he did not provide exact sales numbers.

Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton and baseball player Doug Reinhardt are no longer a couple. Numerous press articles report that Paris dumped Reinhardt after a 14 month relationship.

“She hasn’t seen him in almost a month,” a person close to Hilton tells People Magazine. E! Online reports Doug is devastated by the split and is trying to get her back.

The tv commercial for brazilian beer “Devassa” that is causing controversy

Brazil’s Secretariat for Women’s Affairs is considering the tv campaign Paris Hilton did for brazilian beer “Devassa” too raunchy and derogatory, she said on a press release: “It’s an ad that devalues women – in particular, blond women. The problem with the ad isn’t a lack of clothing, but its sensual nature.”

The tv tagline says “Bem devassa, bem loura”, which translates in English to something similar to: “Too nasty (or bitch), too blond”. The secretariat wants to censor the 1-minute long commercial (watch the commercial above).
